British 1742 Infantry
Commonly seen from 1730 to 1750, these swords were supplied at the expense of regimental commanders, who chose either common models or personalized designs. They feature a slightly curved hanger blade with a hatchet point and single fuller. The cast brass heart-shaped hilt includes a short quillon and knucklebow, with the grip having diagonal grooves on one side and smooth on the other, topped with a round pommel. These swords typically came without a scabbard.
