Lough Gur Shield

The Lough Gur Shield, discovered near Lough Gur in County Limerick, Ireland, dates back to the Bronze Age (700–500 BC) and is one of the finest prehistoric shields found in Ireland. Crafted from bronze, it features intricate concentric circles and patterns, reflecting exceptional metalworking skills. Likely ceremonial, rather than for combat, its delicate design suggests it was a symbol of status or used in rituals. Now housed in the National Museum of Ireland, it offers a glimpse into Bronze Age craftsmanship and culture.
