Sugar Loaf Great Helmet
Sugar Loaf Great Helmet from the 14th century combined iron plate with chain mail, featuring designs like the popular visored bascinet with camail. This helmet consisted of three components: the skull-piece, the movable visor, and the camail. The visor, mounted on side pivots and removable, allowed the helmet to be added to existing armor by placing it over the bascinet, enhancing the knight’s defenses.
