The Gorgon Medusa
The Gorgon Medusa shield is a renowned artifact from ancient Greek mythology, named after Medusa, one of the Gorgons whose gaze could turn people to stone. Often depicted with Medusa’s head at its center, the shield symbolized both protection and intimidation. In mythological stories, particularly involving the hero Perseus, this shield was crucial for defense and offense. Perseus used a reflective shield, given by Athena, to avoid Medusa’s petrifying gaze while he decapitated her.
