The Crusader Great Helmet
The Great Helm, also known as the great crusader helmet or great heaume, was a prominent medieval armor piece worn over a lighter helmet, such as a cervelliere. Widely used across Central Europe, from Germany to Italy, during the Middle Ages, it became popular during the Crusades in the late 12th to early 13th century. Knights favored this helmet until well into the 14th century, as evidenced by numerous historical illustrations and finds.
